What if we all swapped out the words, “I can’t” with “I choose not to” in our daily conversations? What would that sound like?

💎Instead of “I can’t go to the movies with you” the statement would be, “I choose not to go to the movies with you.”

💎Instead of “I can’t afford to buy that new outfit” say, “I choose not to buy that new outfit.”

💎“I can’t lose these extra 30 pounds” becomes “I choose not to lose these extra 30 pounds.”

💎“I can’t find a guy/gal that I’d like to date and get to know better” becomes, “I choose not to find a guy/gal that I’d like to date and get to know better.”

💎“I can’t afford to buy….(fill in the blank)” becomes, “I choose not to buy (fill in the blank again).”

Say a few of these out loud and pay attention to how they make you feel. Most say they feel drained, annoyed or even defensive when saying, “I can’t” and say they feel empowered and even happier when using the words “I choose” even if it’s related to choosing not to do something. By making a choice, once is now able to decide to choose differently and that is VERY empowering.

What if, just for today, you swapped out the words, “I can’t” with “I choose not to” what would this simple switch do for you and your mindset today?
